New Greensleeves releases

Post by Gee »

Hello,

Just wanted to spread the news if you haven't heard already: Wayne Jarrett - Chip In
will be re-released in May 07 and The Seven Voyages of Sinbad will be re-released in July. I also think Cocoa Tea - Tune In come out in May 07 as well.

CDs will be available for those who want that format.

Maybe I can get a copy of Chip In this time that doesn't have a great big bubble in the vinyl around track 1 on each side- to be fair though it is the only bad pressing I've ever had from Greensleeves which is quite an achievement for a reggae label! (And I got it for about £1, so I didn't bother returning it.)

Jesco, I never noticed such a pressing fault on the W Jarrett LP. Got it on an unfaulted Greensleeves pressing (have to check tho').

I have it on Greensleeves Jesco77, no problems and even on the JA Thompson Sounds version my pressing is very reasonable.

Good news about its re-release (although I wonder if it is such good news for Mr Jarret - are Greensleeves paying HIM for this?), it get's overshadowed by the more widely known (and excellent) Bubble Up / Showcase LP on Wackies. But Chip In is a very good LP indeed.

Hi Wareika

I think it was probably a one-off but it takes a good turntable to play it. It's not the only album I've got like that though- the Studio 1 "Battle of the DJs" album has a bubble in it that makes "Moody Groove" (which is actually on my copy the full Johnny and Jenny vocal cut of "Groovy Kind of Love") sound like somebody's trying to kick the studio door in!

Regards

I have a MINT copy of Leggo Dub on original Cash and Carry with a similar brown bubble / lump.

And of course many other records with similar flaws, bubbles, drop outs, off centre pressings...

I have mentionied to the Greensleeves people that it would be great to finally have the Viceroys "Chancery Lane" re-issued. They said there are no plans yet but not to rule it out. Here's hoping.
