Post by soundinista »

greetings!
i'm lookin for some information about wild flower records -> http://www.roots-archives.com/label/469
maybe 45s discography? i've heard few singles released by dem - it's realy wicked soulful, funky reggae material. backing band is brilliant, dubs are nuff & delicate. i thought dat this was derrick harriot label coz it's a little bit similar to crystal records sound & kim harriot released two chunes in dis label. but rough guide to reggae mention only crystal, derrick's and move & grove.

Paul Kouri was the main man behind wildflower records. My dad went to Jamaica 1975 and came back with about 10 7"s one was on wildflower by Pluto (Shervington) called I Man Born Ya. For a JA pressing, it was excellent. Unfortunately, he has it hidden away somewhere. I believe that the Kouri familly upped sticks to the US during one of the many voilent pre / post election periods in Jamaica, along with Coxone Dodd etc

This label came about around 74 after the aerlier labels FRM and FEDERAL, all from the Federal Records Studio owned by the Khouri Family. Thou D. Harriott has produced vis this label, it was manly own khouri production (Pluto, Lord Laro). Also on this label can be found a lot of Lloyd Charmers stuff as those big suuccess with Ken Boothe. I guess it last until the late 70's when a new label came from the Federal group: K & K Records, which re-released a lot of the previous labels best recordings.
