I have been told that Teacher will be sent the link to this forum thread.

Hopefully, he will be generous enough to give us the full inside story.

That is indeed a killer 12" (smoking my ganja), played it many a dance; always gets the knees up.

Hey Funkyfred

Bit more luck than judgement I must confess! The response I got did seem pretty positive that Teacher would give us some feedback.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey Bullit
Yes, that is killer. It is touch and go, but I think my fave is probably "Rumours".

I have vinyard and it is a decent (not classic) album. Headline News is much better. I think that a lot of "foreign" reggae acts didn't become very well known because their sound was somewhat different and the Jamaican reggae audience can be a little fickle about people from other countries playing their music (personally, I believe they SHOULD be) and the discs seem to lose popularity over time if not liked by both English and Jamaican audiences. Aswad, Steel Pulse, and Misty in Roots stayed pretty true to the Jamaican sound on their initial releases. However, Steel Pulse received a lot of backlash from using "too much" rock guitar in their sound.
Seems like Matumbi, Black Slate, and Capital Letters suffer from being "too roots" for the dancehall era and not "strictly roots" enough for people who like Jamaican roots reggae (Spear, Clarke, etc.). This is, of course, just my opinion. Please excuse the egregious use of quotes throughout this post.

Hey Funkyfred

Feedback from Teacher as promised (you even get a name check! Nice one!);

"Greetings from Capital Letters, it is official the band, although not complete is rehearsing. Wizzard the other lead vocalist and keyboard player is unable to attend due to busy work commitments. However we are hoping that our first rebirth gig will be in our home city Wolverhampton, the date pencilled in is 5th August 07.

We give thanks from all members of Capital Letters for your comments, we are now rehearsing so watch this space for more information. Nuff respect!

Big up Funky Fred, thanks for listening to our albums, you know your alphabet, cause now you know Capital Letters…………….. Thanks no1 fan!
