Abbakush??
Greetings and love people. Anybody could provide information about this woman band from England? They sing two songs in the collection "Roots Daughters no4" by Ariwa. I also know two songs from some collection called "In Progress": "Backattack" and "Batta Dem", not so sure about the names. So beautiful all of them. But I can't find anything about them. Any help??

Greetings Haide Rasta,
Abbakush is indeed a crucial band. The two albums you mentioned are the only two albums that they played on. They do not have any albums of their own. If you like the style of Abbakush, then I think you will also like Mwanamke Mwfrika. Their album is called African Women Abroad, and it is in the same "hard roots" style as Abbakush. The album is kind of hard to find, but i'm sure someone on this site would be down to trade

Thank you so much Jah Rumble, Lion. What a pity they have not recorded more songs. Maybe they come with another diamond in another collection sometime, who knows. I certainly hope so, I love their style, "hard roots and mellow"!

Some of the members of Abakush played in a band called "Sisters in reggae". They released a live of the show they did at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2001.
