Why close the Bunny/homosexuality thread?

It seems that the site moderators area bit over-zealous in editing/closing threads that are too contoversial for them. Most of the thread in question was reasoned debate. Why close such a thread?

The thread was running well, and the mods left it alone. But when people started flaming and ranting and not posting with brains, they plugged it up. Rightly so IMHO.

I reckon everything that needed to be said had been said. And once that was done, people just started to abuse the thread.

yet these mods allow all kinds of inane tripe on the off topic section, yet when i posted a brief piece about Doreen Lawrences book about the murder of her son Stephen , the mods obliterated it instantly.Why? 2 months of incessant emails to them elicited the reply that they didnt want controversy on the site...now that is well and truly over the top, and at times the mods really ruin this site with their jobsworth type values
