I am wondering if anyone has any info about Samuel Mickle. I know he and Stranger Cole worked on Mickle's album together but am wondering where he was from, affiliations with other artists, catalogue, etc.
I can't get enough of Mickle's Freedom Vibes LP and wanted to find out more.

must have some connection with Heptones...
some of the dubbs are on the D.C (Dub connection) LP on Teletech records label produced Earl Morgan. S Mickle LP has a tune or two that mix with PArty Time (Heptones) LP & If I remember right, also with MAny Moods of (Alton Ellis)LP. Same Roots vibe- no doubt. aDambom

Much Thanks, Jahadambom. I own both those LPs and didn't even notice. Mickel's vocals are so good, I wasn't paying attention. I'll go back and relisten for the riddims now that i know.

Samuel released 2 or 3 LP's as FREEDOM FIGHTERS, some tracks were recorded with the Wailers. The album RASTA SOLDIERS is the best one - to my personal opinion.

I think I liked the freedom Vibes LP because of it's hard late 70's riddim style -(Even though it was released in 1982). Plus, while I am not particularly a fan of Strangejah Cole's vocal albums, his productions are always top notch. Don't forget also, R.Zee JAckson's small but crucial contribution to album -another "connection" we failed to talk about on this LP. His Toronto reggae connections (studios & players) also helped make this a scorcher!

The players of insturments are a mixture of Earth, Roots & Water & I n I Region on the Freedom Vibes LP, these are the same players that are found on most of King Cultures prod. (very simalar sound) of that same era 1980-1984. Great Shakes turned out some excellent reggae from Toronto, but not to be missed is also the works of the other notable Toronto based producers & labels.
