I've never heard it, but since it's a Jamaican Recordings issue, I'd bet money that it's bogus.

Like the rest of the Jamaican Recordings stuff it's top drawer. And with Mr. Smart in the mix you can't go wrong.

Well, like a lot of the JR stuff, anyway. I have to admit some of their releases aren't so great. But this sounds good to me. Whether or not these are genuine 'lost' 70s dubs (no dub mixer is credited) is debatable, but its better than quite a few of the 70s dub LPs I've got.

The Augustus Pablo LP was a great surprise with great sounds on it, raw dubs and the sound was OK
However, Barry Brown's "Steppin Up Dub Wise" even if it had an other time great mixes of his tunes, had really a poor sound quality. The further the LP was turning, the badder was the sound (A&B sides), constant background noise.
Very disapointed of that purchase.

The Jamaican Recordings catalogue does not impress me at all, basically they use the original tracks ie: bunny lee, treasure isle, channel one, etc. But the mixes are not from the 70's / 80's but from the late 90's on up. but they can TALK UP a storm about their lp's and 10" too. i usually would put them in the same degree as abraham records.

I personally quite like some of the Jamaican Recordings, i met one of the owners at a festival in sweden a few years back and they seem like really nice guys in it for the love of the music from what i could make out...
