how do you feel about light roots?

Well, I don't feel very good at all about "light roots", or "weakheart roots" (as I like to call it) at all. I consider an album light roots almost wholly based upon the riddim and not the subject content. If the riddim is too light and the song carries a serious message, the message will not be driven hard enough into the listeners ear. I would even go as far as to call the Earth & Stone - Kool Roots album "light roots" and do not care for it. (Almost always) Only heavy, heavy roots for me. The Gladiators - Dreadlocks The Time Is Now album would be an exception. This is a great album! However, I would barely classify it as a "light roots" album.

Sorry Jah Glu, have to take issue with that 'throwaway' statement.

Virgin produced loads of great output. Yes, there's some lightweight LPs on their catalogue, but what about stuff like Prince Far I's Lps on Virgin, "Message From the King" and "Cry Tuff Dub Chapter 2" ?

Don't get me wrong, I adore 'Heart of the Congos' but 'Cry Tuff Dub II' can give the Congo's a run for their basket of fish.
