The Revolutionaries - Musical Dub Attack

Post by leggo rocker »

I just noticed this while researching an answer to another thread.

Anyone heard this LP?

I would love to hear it, or better still, have it under me control!

This one came in extremely limited quantity as a (radio-)'DJ'-only promotional release by Virgin (hence the VDJ-matrix).
Well crucial Revolutionaries Dub sounds. It has a blank sleeve and blank label.
Last time I saw it on ebay it went for about 470 GBP.

470 UK pounds?!!!

I'd pay that... (any idea who bought it? - that pesky kingofdub probably, is he the man with the fattest wallet in the second hand reggae vinyl world?

Are there other VDJ matrix releases?

And did they ever release this LP in any other format? Why promote it with a white label and then not release it?

Anyone heard it?

I've now listened to this LP. It all sounds very familiar.

Has it been released under any other name?

Or have the tracks been used on other LPs individually?

Or is it buried, only made available on this very small pressing run? That would be a shame.

Haven't heard the LP but Musical Shark Attack utilizes a couple of Earth & Stone rhythms if my memory serves me right. I'm pretty sure you've heard the dubs from them some time and perhaps that's why it sound familiar?

But as I said, I haven't heard the album so I don't know if I-Roy can be heard at all on the dubs or if they are dubs of the original songs.

Sounds like a great LP though.

I saw this lp once many years ago in a basement record shop in Camden London. A man called Bernard who owned the shop had a copy and played bits of it to me but even though i begged him he did not want to sell it is the Dub to I roy s musical shark attack lp and i would love to get hold of it in any format. some of the dubs can be found on satta dub and obvisously on b sides but i am yet to find all of them that are on this lp. Bernard later sold it for a tenner to some lucky barstard gutted it was not me.
