Jah Glu & Others : please read

Post by seb »

In spite of this thread name, what i will say below is not pointed to jah glu in particular but rather to an attitude of a few members.

I'm getting a bit pissed off reading some messages on various threads lately. It looks like the main interest in this forum for a (very) few people is controversy.

I don't mind if someone says he doesn't like bob marley or any other ; this is music talk, everyone's his taste.

Now i won't accept anymore stuff like spending so much on a record is a disease or this woman is a hippie etc .. it's out of the music talk and doesn't interest anyone.

Replying to this kind of messages is irrelevant as well. I don't care of who started it first.

We are here to talk about reggae & music in general, nothing less, nothing more. If you have personal comments to do to anyone, use PMs. Now let's go back to our roots, share knowledge when we can answer a question and try to spend some time together in peace.

All the best,

Seb

You are right, those threads are getting boring. I'm sorry for my involvement in them.

Why not just close those threads, Seb?

Apologies if my contribution exacerbated the situation.

I don't see that any other forum has managed to avoid this problem.

In fact, this forum seems to have less of this problem than any other's I have read.

Well spoken Seb....

Leggo,

I agree, still i don't want our forum to be like some others. Till very recently 99% of us have been moderating ourselves, I think it was time to remind some basic things.

all the best,

Opinions are like Channel One Records...every reggae collector has one!! In order to keep up the high quality and positive vibe of the Roots-archives reggae forum it is important for users to exercise discretion. Use the PM for personal business or exchange email.

If you don't like or disagree with a topic, it is almost better not to say anything at all...unless of course you believe that yu can share some insight or possibly offer a new perspective. A debate is always welcome, but an argument is no fun at all.

You can also show your distaste for a particular topic by not paying any attention to it- a sort of boycott. Ultimately, it will no longer apperar on the first few pages (which are usally the most current topics of discussion)-if the moderators even let it stay on the forum.

MAybe even start up your own topic of interest...but by all means, avoid any negativity, slanderous remarks and ad Hominems.

Look at it, if you will, as Forum ettiquette (did I spell that right?) and remember the title song of Horace MArtins' Negus Roots Lp...."I'm walking and Talking, living in the positive Vibez!"
