Ah yes, the 'Nelson Road Project'. But don't underestimate the part that Leggo Dub, African Anthem and the Cry Tuff Dub and African Dub series all had in that conversion of the bikers.

Hmm - I must correct your history slightyly again leggo - those albums (with the possible exception of cry tuff dub 2) were not really used in the 'Nelson Road Project' that I refer to. They were more the albums you used to confirm me as a Reggae lover (you did not start the process - 3 Culture tracks from the John Peel show and Dillingers 'Cocaine' were how I started). This was a little earlier (38 Nelson Road). You then moved out of Nelson Road and shortly after moved to London (Belvedere Towers I think?). Tim and I then continued the good work at 22 Nelson Road - initiating the Palmerston/Singing Kettle bikers (including Steve). We quickly found that those 3 albums I mentioned were at first more tolerable to the bikers and eventually they started to admit that they really liked them and begin to request them!
Interestingly, one of my friends Andy (who plans to become an All Star soon) has just split with his wife and moved into a new flat - and yes, you guessed it - it's in Nelson Road!

I was talking about the conversion of the Havant / Waterlooville Biker set... including Big Mark. This process was definately done with the help of Leggo Dub, African Dub and African Anthem.MightyZ wrote:Hmm - I must correct your history slightyly again leggo - those albums (with the possible exception of cry tuff dub 2) were not really used in the 'Nelson Road Project' that I refer to.

And on the subject of moves, aren't you forgetting Campbell Road, that came before the move to London but after the stay in a squat near the Cemetary up the end of Albert Road!

Apologies for the error - re:H&W bikers - hadn't forgotten the Campbell road move though - was just trying to point out that the episode I am talking about was later in the Nelson Road days - towards the end of my time there

KRAFTWERK!!!!!!! MightyZ, I love KW too.
Saw them live in 1981 in Sydney at the Capitol theatre
( the best, clearest and loudest sound I have ever heard)
even got to touch the POCKET CALCULATOR !!
and 2 nights in a row in 2000 in TOKYO at the BLITZ.
and here in Australia a few years ago at BDO.
I have a nice collection of KW stuff but still looking for the RADIOACTIVITY cd single
SORRY >>>BACK TO TOPIC...

Amazing how many Kraftwerk fans there are in the Archives!
I saw them in 1980 in Southampton - almost certainly the same show as you saw in Sydney!

Back to the topic, slightly.
I always remember
"This album jacket is great for cleaning herb"
on the gatefold version of RASTAMAN VIBRATION
and it was!
