macka b

Post by sean »

hey..macka b proved yet again that hes the very best in dj reggae, and has been the uk,s very best for 25 years, with a stunning set at chapeltown carnival in leeds on sunday. topics included proud to be black..he says hes got the same skin condition as michael jackson but macka b gets blacker as jackson gets whiter..slackness, women must be respected not treated as sex objects..macka b is vegan now and told us all about it plus asking the crowd to stop taking their kids to mcdonalds as the food is junk...amazingly good reggae..macka b

Sounds like he went through the songs of his debut LP. A great album.

hi kalcidis
to a limited extent yes..ie sex machine and big mac were early songs going way back to the 1980s..but other stuff ie WHAT ME EAT..and another song about changing skin colour and Jackson etc, and another on women and a song on vegan food..all were knew hits ..i saw a colleague of mine next day she agreed theyre the best dj set shed EVER seen in many years of loving reggae..macka b..when it simply doesnt get any better..

Macka B has some great material, I don't follow him extra closely but I do appreciate how funny he can get but he also has some serious serious message tunes - he's probably my favorite UK dj.

Funny you mention Badder Than Jah - it is one of my favorites, a perfect tune. On the same lp, Looks Is Deceiving is also a strong message tune with a slice of humor going on. And how can we forget Who Are The Terrorists as a message tune. Then the double sided winner - Tiger Woods Is Black b/w Family Man...

And then there's all those Macka B lps I haven't even heard yet...grrr.
