Last night for me it was Freddie McKays "Picture on the wall" LP for Coxsone. I had forgotten how great this LP really is, Side 1 in particular is class all the way.

The above got me onto a Studio 1 buzz so I then blew the dust off the Jackie Mittoo "Showcase" LP (again for Dodd). Cant understand why Dodd never re-issued this great LP. I picked up the LP new back in 83'ish for about £8 in a Dublin record store. Glad I did now ;-)

Just got this

Must say it's a brilliant collection, nicely devided into a 'Lovers' (great !) and 'Roots & Culture' (greater !) CD.
If all, it lacks on the packaging (as almost always when this classics are released on artists-own-terms and without a 'major' company behind them) and some tracks needed some better remastering. Anyway, this is strictly Big-Peoples-Music, love it love it LOVE IT. Great tunes, great voice, great riddims, and classical rockers music all the way.
Get this and add the Gaylads' "Over the Rainbows end" and you have two CDs full of magical musical moments from one of the greatest voices from Jamaica.
Sadly, there will be no vinyl available.
