Heartbeat recently released this Alvin Ranglin dub.
How crucial is this music?

(Already got the macca roots man dub from ranglin on the Jamaican gold label)

It's the lp Rootsman dub plus bonus tracks 7" and 12" versions and not every thing is GG production on the 2e lp/cd.
If you don't have the Rootsman dub album buy it.
(i have it dubbel ina the hous now vinyl junkie seen.)

The Jamaican Gold stuff is different =Macca Roots man dub+

Atually, Ranglin also issued some stuffs from other producers with his GG Master Tapes business. Sometime with GG label and sometime with different label (i.e. some Spear stuff on Burning Spear label).

For this Rootsman Dub LP, it seems there are several pressings with some differences. Mine is a Jam one with 5 tracks on A side and 6 on B side. Seems the UK one has 6 tracks on each side.

Regarding the music, the B side is actually a kinda of reissue of Manzie's dub from this LP:

You still have some differences regarding the mix. From memory mainly addition of horns, hand drums and some other effects on two tune on the Ja Man Dub set...

The Street Corner Ital Food comp on GG also features some Manzie's producted tunes such as R Davis "Fever".

I presumed anything issued by Ranglin was his own production, apparently not. Thanks for the info.

Listened to the 'Macca Roots Man dub' today. The different engineers used on the tracks gives the album lots of variety (or you can also say it's a bit incoherent imo) instru dub comparable with the revolutionaries work for Hoo Kim but also heavy drum and bass kinda dub. Liner notes say all recorded and mixed at channel one.
Is this also the case on the 'Roots Man Dub' (I mean different engineers & instru. dub and also more drum/bass orientated tracks?

I've had a bacon sounding version of this for a while and and love the dub to Bim Sherman's "mighty ruler" on the Heptones "tripe girl" riddim.

Worth it for that alone.
