Lost records...postal mix-ups. :(

Post by Matthew »

[cover=2771,3215]
I was informed today that my copy of this LP was lost/miss-delivered by the local post office. No chance of recovery it seems.
I can just picture some unknowing person, opening my record, scoffing at Jah Thomas in his 81 stylee and then tossing it away like refuse.
I'm so bummed, not only would it have been my first Jah Thomas lp, I got a screamin' deal on it. $5.50/US in shrinkwrap. :(

Not to dwell on negative but has anyone else had things lost or not arrive by mail/post???

Sorry, Matthew. I've had similar things happen and it is a huge letdown when you are anticipating such a great record and know that you got it for a steal of a price. Hope it finds its way into your collection somehow.

Sorry to hear this happened to you, i have had a few things disapear in the post, not had a record disapear yet; can only be greatful it was 5.50 for you and not some record that was 100.00. Still a pain and annoying though.
Hope it doesnt happen again.

It's a great album too, so I'm really sorry to hear what happened.

I've only had one 12" (Tetrack - Tribal Warriors) getting lost ... I still think the seller never sent it to me. He was quite dodgy.

Thanks kalcidis...sorry about the Tetrack.
It's always a gamble ordering/shipping etc.
Plus like you say, you add a shady seller into the mix, it gets even dicier.

Luckily the seller on this transaction was super cool, the actual post office sent it to the wrong delivery station then......who knows???

Not sending records when the price doesn't get high enough is an old ebay scam. INSIST that your sellers ALWAYS get a proof of posting.

If the item is REALLY valuable (money or sentiment) then use Special Delivery. Unlike any other type of mail (including recorded and registered) these packets really are treated with care. They are not entered into the general melee that is the sorting system, they get handled separately all the way through the system.

It's always worth checking with your local sorting office in my experience - undelivered items are sometimes there even if people in other parts of the postal system are unaware of it & say it's lost.

I would check your postman's record collection!

I have worked for the royal mail and know that he's the only one who has a good chance to steal the item when he is on the way to deliver, everywhere else is too well covered by CCTV etc.

Also try any house with a similar address - like if you live at 191 try calling at 119. Records sent to me sometimes end up at similar address - a guy who also happens to collect vinyl!

Above all though ask the seller to provide proof of postage, if he can't then he's either a careless amatuer seller, or he didn't send it. I NEVER send without proof of postage and when sending abroad, always get proof of delivery as there are too many buyers willing to lie and cheat!
