Greetings,
I am looking for info on an album called "Kings of Reggae"- I know it's a very generic title, but that's it. I have a very poor cassette dub of it from almost 20 years ago. I copied at a CD store I worked at in the early days of CD's.
All I remember is that Peter Tosh is listed on guitar. It's mainly an instumental record, very moody with lots of flute.
The first tune has a chorus that goes-
"Woy, woy, woy it's a East Kingston"
There's another tune that has a chorus-
"Silver & gold have I none" (this is not the Jacob Miller Tune)
Whatever the vocals there are are only choruses and they sound like men & women singing together. Like i said though, most songs are instrumentals (not dubs). It's just a great mellow album to kick back and i-detate to.
So any help would be much appreciated. Just remember the music is at least 20 years old.
Thanks

Ites,
the record is called 'Hot Dub' and is mostly credited to Sly & Robbie who played on all tracks. It's a dutch production from 1984. Producer and main instrumentalist was dutch flute-master Chris Hinze.

Maybe youre memory played you a trick because there is no mention of Peter Tosh in the credits to this record.

Look for the Bamboo Reggae album by Chris Hinze, it has the tracks you are looking for and has been released under a few different titles.

The title is indeed "Kings Of Reggae" and I think it was also credited to Peter Tosh. I will have to go through my records at home to confirm though.
