Peace Conference In A Western Kingston - Trinity
Anyone know which vocal this was cut on.
Here's a link to the start of Trinity's DJ cut in which you can hear the original vocals towards the end of the sample.

I wondered whether it might be Feeling Irie by the Twinkle Brothers?

Nope, it's not Feeling Irie with the Twinkles. It's a Yabby-production though and it does sound like Yabby sings in the background so the answer is probably something with Yabby U.

Hi Rob
I haven't managed to have a good listen to it, but I am sure it's the Prophets.

I've got the Trinity 7"- it was on the Vivian Jackson/Yabby You label. I dimly recall the vocal version was on the Yabby You "Jah Jah Way" album- possibly "Chalice Specialist"- but I'll have to dig the album out to check.

Jesco77,
Thanks.I would be grateful if you could check on the album to see if it is Chalice Specialist. The title sounds about right because Illy is one of the words that follows Irie in the short vocal bit that is audible. I have the Trinity single as well but I'd love to track down the vocal cut.
6anbatte,
Yes, seems likely to be the Prophets. If it is the track on Jesco's album perhaps the sleeve notes will give us the exact vocal line for that Prophets recording.

Algoriddim,
Thanks. I think you posted as I was pressing the button to reply to Jesco77.
I might check my Black Echoes & Black Music magazines from 1978 later to see if it was released as a single as well.
Regards
Rob

Possibly Yabby You, Alric Forbes and Dada Smith.

I managed to find the album last night and what a great track Chalice Specialist is. Now I need to find the single- it was one of the first reggae 7"s I bought way back in the late 70s and I played it to death at the time! Alrick Forbes is credited with vocals and guitar on the album and one "Ritchie" is also on vocals, who might be Dada (Richard Smith) do you think?

Hi Jesco77
That would make sense. The other vocalist I thought it might have been was Bobby Powell (Melody) and that "Ritchie" reference now definitely rules Bobby out.
