Re: forum
Wow folks! All this fuss over having to click your mouse one extra time?
No offense, but if you had the time to create or respond to this post then you have the time to click on the extra link too.
I'm sure that it wasn't anyone's intention to be whiney here, but considering that we have access to this fantastic site (with it's new improvements) all for free, perhaps we can let such little things slide?

Re: forum
No fuss, really. Just a simple statement of opinion. I didn't say the extra mouse clicks were troublesome. I certainly didn't say this website was suddenly no good.
I am on this site eight to ten times a day. I am well aware of how valuable it is and I truly am thankful for the site.
I apologize if my opinion bothered anybody.

Re: forum
todd,
your (and others) opinion didn't bother anyone at Roots Archives.
when we make a new feature, we try to promote it as much as possible on our homepage so that people know it exists.
you would be amazed by how many people write us email telling us that they never noticed there was a forum here in spite of browsing RA for years.
in the meantime, it takes many time to redo the homepage, so this time we decided to replace the forum 'box' by the 'news' one. it wasn't probably th best idea (even if it didn't take too much time) so we'll change the homepage soon and we'll showcase both the forum and the news on our homepage.
all the best,
seb

Re: forum
I agree that the forum is better off being 'tasted' on the front page. But the news feed there is also important. But, as there's not much of it (news) coming in at the moment, it can easily look stale.

Re: forum
I believe that there are many users of RA (like me) who do use or check the forum each and everyday (or many times a day
), in a much more regular basis then using the site as a tool of research or a source for the latest news (wich the forum itself already is).
Maybe that's why it is so missed on the frontpage.
Blessings,
