Damn!!!.I was thinking that piracy is when you get profit for making copys and selling it.The sharing i have it in mind like socilize music.Leggo, do you know if this woman get profit for the sharing??It would be important to know what trigger that reaction in court.

OH dear,
I`m not here to save money. I`m here to enjoy my lovely roots music. When I decided to collect I knew it`s an expensive hobby. No need to cry about the costs. When I started listening to Reggae, there were not even CDs.
I don`t like that mp3 sound. I`m not a computer kid who needs to own thousands of files.
A real vinyl record can be looked at, it can be touched, sleeve notes can be read and much more. For me, mp3 is something an-organic, seen, sth. dead.
Records have their own aura which you can feel and hear.
Keep the vinyl alive!
Blessed,
I-Lion

Actually vinyl is for life. But only life as it is gradually being eaten away by microbes and they take about 100 years to lunch on an LP, so I am told!
From what I gather, the lady punished in the US courts for sharing was not charging. Very few sharers are 'real' pirates, they're just petty thieves.

downloading out of print singles/albums should not be considered as piracy in my opinion. if you buy them at second hand records shops or ebay, artists, producers, labels etc ... don't get a euro anyway.

Good point Seb.
Or maybe music should be like written work, which goes completely out of copyright after a certain period?

I do burn some music/music data cds from my friends' collections and in case I like what I've heard, I simply do and buy the actual record. Otherwise it feels like I cannot enjoy the music at full volume, you know? This in my case saves some money, as I avoid buying crap records.
