Exodus theme was originally by Ernest Gold.
There are so many great covers,
Ken Boothe Everything I Own
Ken Boothe Moving Away (& D Brown)
Ken Boothe Ain't No Sunshine
Ken Boothe Thinking
One that's been playing here a lot recently:
Heptones : Suspicious Minds

Toots and the Maytals "Country Roads Take Me Home".
I actually just bought a Trojan Seventies Box Set tonight. I was dissapointed to find that it was all covers of American and UK seventies music, but some of it is actually quite good.

Re: Reggae Covers Of Famous Songs
Here are some I will always feel:
TOO LATE TO TURN BACK NOW - Alton Ellis (totally wicked version of the Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose hit)
UNEXPECTED PLACES - Hortense Ellis (PURE baaaaadness - a nifty reggae lick of Kim Carnes' tune - of which there are are also dread versions by Jose Feliciano and Barbra Streisand)
BABY I'VE BEEN MISSING YOU - Bunny Maloney (extremely popular version of The Independents' soul hit)
BREAK UP TO MAKE UP - Heptones (Leroy Sibbles doin' the do as only he can - a MASH-UP lick of the Stylistics' hit)
GHETTO CHILD - Freddie McGregor (a Studio One nugget - a wicked rinse of the Detroit Spinners' '73 smash)
I HOPE WE GET TO LOVE IN TIME - Dennis Brown (Errol T. on the case - a really nice version of the Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis - ex-5th Dimension - hit)
LET ME DOWN EASY - Derrick Harriot (HAVE MERCY! An incredible lick of the G.C. Cameron tune)
YOU'LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER LOVE LIKE MINE - John Holt (this used to TEAR UP parties!!! Originally Lou Rawls of course)
TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT - Claudette Miller (BOSS version of Betty Wright's 2-stepper)
A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME - Sugar Minott (WOY! A Studio One lick of the Brook Benton smash - SHHHHHHH!)
PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH - Mikey Spice (trust - this is even BETTER than Barry White's original)
MARRIAGE LICENSE - Dr. Alimantado (crackin' rockers version of The Chi-Lites number)
WE'RE ALL IN THIS THING TOGETHER - Delroy WILSON (used to go crazy for this Gussie 12" back in the day - originally by those Philly gents The O' Jays)
CAUGHT YOU IN A LIE - Louisa Mark (Robert Parker's 1966 stepper transmogrified into an original lovers rock classic from Lloydie Coxsone)
SWEET CHILD - Freddie McGregor (more Studio One magic from FM - this time covering a Johnny Mathis tune: wicked)
I MISS YOU - The Heptones (BAAAAD version of the Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes tune)
POOR SIDE OF TOWN - Dennis Brown (TOTALLY LOVE the Guv'nor's lick of the Johnny Rivers/Al Wilson smash)
I'M YOUR PUPPET - Jimmy London (another ALL-OUT ravers classic from 1975 - originally cut by James & Bobby Purify in 1966)
JUST DON'T WANT TO BE LONELY - Marcia Griffiths (BOSS lick of The Main Ingredient classic)
LET'S MAKE A BABY - Ruddy Thomas (sweet version of the Billy Paul hit)
BREAKFAST IN BED - Lorna Bennett (striking version of the Baby Washington/Dusty Springfield tune - love Scotty'd DJ lick SKANK IN BED as well)
