very sad news today i get. lucky dube got shot. a lot of people in my town loved this singer and his music has been played here since a friend first brought a LP back from south africa in 1990. together as one, slave, prisoner, house of exile etc etc, all great albums. he played ireland the last 3 years he toured, and was last here in april this year. how ironic that he died like this and touched on the same situation in some of his songs. to see his 'live' show was an experience in itself, and his sound with his 3 female backing singers was unique. will be greatly missed around the world.

WHAT ARE HIS BEST ALBUMS

I would say that the ones below are his best albums, I have some of the newer stuff too, as I have always thought he had a brilliant voice, and he was a very good song writer early on. My particular favorite would be Captured Live, with songs such as, "Prisoner", "Slave" and "Going Back to My Roots". He will surely be missed.

I would also mention the two albums from his backing band Slaves, where he lends his incredible voice. Both of these represent some very strong music, maybe not pure roots, but it's hard not to tap your foot to songs like "Early Breakfast", "Fly Dem Dreads", the UB40 cover of "Sing Our Own Song", or "Come Back".
