hi realego, looking forward to see gladiators tomoro nite . dont know about all copies but my gladiators LP on studio 1 isnt a great pressing which is probably why i reach for the 'trenchtown mix up' most. check ram 'in dub' at temple bar, good to deal with and will really try to find any item u require.

Went to see them last night. Band were tight but there was no Albert. Lead vocals were done by his son. Not great to be honest.

I went aswell & as you say not great. They took a while to get going & gave it a good effort but lacked a bit of punch. The support acts were crass as usual they should just spin records instead.

Very first original release Studio One pressings are actually pretty good - if you can find them in good condition and can then afford them!

The well documented problems arise from their over use of worn out stampers.

I missed the support act on purpose to be honest. Spinning records before would have been better I agree anyway. Gladiators are nothing without Albert up front and as such the gig was a flop for me. Band were tight, riddims banged out like the records sound, but the lead vocal was dire....real bad effort imHo.

Do forget Pretending, too.
And every Virgin album...

because Albert is the leader of the band, he wrote most of the songs, and sang them. Since 1987 and the leaving of Clinton Fearon, he's now the only singer... until these last years when his son Al is here to help him.

Well, I'm talking about Country Living, in particular, which was '85. Both Clinton & Gallimore were on that album, but it was titled Albert Griffiths & the Gladiators.
