HIgh prices are ok if the product is unavailable anywhere else, buy or dont is what i say.But selling things for more money then offered at ernie b or so,is just plain silly and makes the seller look really idiotic and a buyer is taken for a fool by the seller.

BILL-Not many people can compete with ernie's re-issue prices as he is such a big retailer & wholesaler, and probably buy's such large quantities that he gets a good discount.Us small fry cant match that, but ernies used prices thats a different matter.

first post here - been lurking around for a while...

Yes, I was watching that Wayne Smith - when it was at $150 with a day to go, I knew it was going to go for silly money. First time I have seen a 80s record go for over $300! I had seen Run Come Ya by B. Levy go for $200+ before.

On a related note, The Nicodemus re-issues I just purchased from Ernie B were a mixed bag. Great to have the music for fair prices, but pressing quality on volume 2 left a lot to be desired. Obviously mastered from a poor copy of the original Clappas press, it has a skip at one of the song intros and irritating surface noise all the way through. With a picture of JoJo Hookim on the back, I was thinking wow, maybe master tapes were used for this pressing, but no such luck. It is hard to believe that a better copy could not be sourced for the reissue, I have og clappas pressings and they are excellent!

This is the dillemna for collectors of the music today, og presses are getting really expensive, but with reissues, you never know what kind of sound quality you will be getting. It a shame that a label like Blood and Fire is now out of the game as you could always count on top notch pressing quality from them.

did anyone see the bob marley single(I think it was diamond baby or a similar title) that went for over 1,600 USD on ebay? - I can't say how much it went for eventually because they removed the link from my ebay where I was watching it. They don't do that for other less expensive stuff.

The only Wolves on eBay are the people running it. It takes 2 people to bid up a record or 1 to buy it in the case of the set sale style listings. I think the reggae is seeing a rejuvenation of fans with all the great compilations coming out, and with that comes the "I want the original NOW!" philosophy. Thus the prices that those who have been following the scene for while would not pay.
