Re: Abyssinians: Satta Massagana
Hi there,Dubs_West
As it comes to Satta Massagana, this album has an outstanding atmosphere. It's really good, has a specific mood, great one. Of course, it depends on what you like, but Satta deserves repeated listening as it gets better and better:)
Ps. cd release contains numerous bonus tracks and been reissued also in 2007.
Ps.2 Get the dub album as well!!!

i agrre with the above post. However, I found King Tubby meets the Aggrovators at dub station rather disappointing. Bear in mind it was actually mixed by Philip Smart not tubbs (this needs correcting on the archives). I bought black and white in dub (carl patterson) at the same time and haven't stopped listening to it. But as I said, I found King Tubby meets the Aggrovators at dub station suprisingly weak.

@ Dub Station is worthwhile for "King Tubby Dub" if for nothing else. Other than that, it doesn't rank with the classic Abyssinians album you mention.

Dubs_West,
Satta is often considered a reggae anthem making it a must have for any serious reggae collection. Keep in mind that Satta is early in the roots period, so the music isn't quite as militant or "Dread" as material from the late 70s, so it really depends on what you like, but I would recommend picking it up for songs like "Declaration of Rights" and "Y Mas Gan" in addition to the title track.
Regards,
Chris

i have the King Tubby meets the Aggrovators at dub station as creation of dub on total sounds, with a 1 track difference.
