I've done a big rocksteady mix with some of the crucial tunes from rocksteady years. You can find on it many singles you must listen to!

If you want you can download it on:

http://www.kinkyjam.com/maurodj/one%20h ... steady.zip

and find the cover and the tracks on my myspace:

I hope you'll enjoy it!

Alton Ellis - Sings Rock And Soul from Studio One. But Rocksteady was biggest in the Treasure Isle Studio owned by Duke Reid. Two classic albums would be a compilation with the Paragons (There are alot!) and The Techniques -Queen Majesty: The Anthology. I would also recommend U Roy - Version Galore on Trojan label. One of the cd's is with all the best of U Roy's classic toasting over rocksteady tracks and the other cd is with the original tracks that U Roy chatted over. Check em' all out.

"Greatest Jamaican Beat" (subtitled Rock Steady - Baba Boom Time) on Treasure Isle is another good one, but I couldn't see it on a quick scan through the Archives. It leads off with Queen Majesty as well, and they don't really come much more classic than that.
