Hi ton1
A 20 year old recording (that has been played to death) from a poor record deck to a poor tape recorder that sounds better than something the professionals have produced? Not sure about that.
Hi Jah Titus
Absolutely no restoration work was done at all.

These CD re-issues have great sound quality in my opinion:

Studio One's own release on CD is the worst you can put your hands on.

Almost anything on the often discussed Abraham label could classify as worst!

I totally agree with you on this.ton1 wrote:Jah Titus wrote :
Some crackles (like on the Phil Pratt Thing comp') are often better than a poor remastering which makes the dynamic of the recordings disappear and sounds like a chewing-gum, looks like it was recorded in toilets while the singer is speaking in a big PVC tube floating on water (see what I mean ? ). This sound is typical of a denoise operation with a basic sound software and is really worse than doing nothing.
I'd rather hear a bit of cracklin' than the horrible 'PVC tube' sound!
Of course, when done with care and the best equipment, remastering can work wonders...

BEST of late: Baba Dread "Earthman Connection" - not just a killer set, it sounds great!
[cover=2592,2986]
Worst of late: Wailing Souls "Wailing Souls" (SOCD 1126) - sounds drops out, REALLY thin, no bass...
[cover=344,396]
level vibes to all!

Agree Rootsman: Jetstar ´Killer Price´ is unbelievable! Not only the speakers are collapsing, me too!

You were right and I was wrong, I'm listening to it and there's obviously a saturation on the high frequencies. Not the worst CD I've ever heard but really disappointing for a Pressure Sound release.Jah Titus wrote:Of course Ton1 but Phil Pratt Thing is nuff worst dan "some crackles" how yu seh.
