It was 2 girls that I met at a Peter Tosh concert in '83 that truly flung open the doors to the world of reggae for me. I was a big Marley fan back then and knew a little about Tosh and was only at the gig out of mild curiosity.
A strong friendship grew with those two girls and they introduced my ears to many artists which remain my favourites to this day: Burning Spear, The Twinkle Brothers, Ras Michael, Culture, Ijahman, Black Uhuru etc.
As it sometimes goes, we lost contact over the years but I sure would love to meet up with them someday to let them know what a huge influence they had on my life.
Bless you sisters Helen and Daniella.

A red Ferrari might get you almost any bimbo but become a domestic God and you'll be able to woo just about any woman!
And yes Lady DJ, I can do all that. And not only can I sooth babies I can deliver them too! Five out of six I have helped deliver. And by the last three came the midwife would just drink tea in the armchair and ask me to call her when I could see the head! In fact one baby came very soon after the midwife arrived because we deliberately delayed calling her!

And if you guys are all getting grumpy because this is going off thread a bit, stop!
Think about it.
Maybe this is the type of discussion we need to have to get a few more ladies in the house!

Re: Why No Girls
BTW - I too cook (thankfully as my wife hates cooking)
and can soothe babies - although my wife is the most amazing baby soother, so I was eclipsed there! (you put any baby in her arms and it will be asleep in less than five minutes) - come to think of it, I looked after one of leggorockers babies during the wedding service when our mum remarried!
As for the washing machine - well I can use it, but I more often am asked to fix them than use them as my wife is quite domesticated (not my doing - she had that instilled in her in childhood!).
Lady DJ I am interested - obviously this is the sort of topic that you feel would get ladies talking on RA - tell me what other topics would catch a ladies eye on here. Guys often are keen on labels, dates of release, technical specs etc. What do girls want to find out about the music and artists they listen to? My impression is that girls want to know more personal things about the artist than the sort of technical stuff like 'what mic do you use?' 'what is your favourite guitar' etc., but I have an open mind and am happy to have my viewpoint challenged/enlightened.

Re: Why No Girls
Well MightyZ, maybe you're right...
I never take part in forums, I don't know why...but, I just don't do it ... but I called myself the attention the title of this discucion about "women in reggae" is a common topic that I talk with my friends ... in the daily thing, I like to know about " what type of microphones or guitar some music used " etc but I don't express it in forum... but, maybe I start to do it!
Anyway... I agree with you that most of the time, women want to talk about personal things of other people (maybe that's why, most of my friends are boys)
