I agree. Third World always reminded me of the UK polished sounding reggae bands.

Speaking of UK bands, I wonder if you guys find Black Roots or Pablo Gad to sound slick or polished?

I happen to find Black Roots to be deep roots sounding and Pablo Gad to be rough and rugged roots, both of which I recommend regularly.

Actually, I'll also recommend Cimarons or Capital Letters on occasion but I could see someone else finding them too slick or polished sounding. 'UK skanking' is probably the slickest song, by anyone, that I really enjoy. But 'Natty Walk' is anything but polished or slick.

i have to agree with a few of you in that third world's style is not for me...although i admit i haven't heard too much of them...but it is what i have heard that keeps me from listening to more recordings.
i have seen their performance at reggae sunsplash 81 and they had lots of energy, but i think i like heavier manners.

I gotta add my thoughts here.

Yeah there very pop stlyed but remember there still rasta and even though alot of there sounds are pretty pop inspired there still reaching another audience who are`nt militant or serious reggae listeners,wich for me is a great thing.

I`m a rastaman and to be honest can`t really relate or listen to pop/mainstream reggae,i like my tunes militant,deep,religious and soulful.

Respect must be given to some of these mainstreamers as they are still keeping the rasta image out and about,i`ve got some of this style Inner Circle-One Way and Reggae Dancer and these albums are quality,but to get back to Third World there best and my favorite plus roots/message driven album has got to be the album (Rock the World) absolute quality.
