James; I certainly think you should. But beware since it's in the exploitation vein type of cinema. Do not except it to reminisce of Kurosawa.

The latest transfer of Countryman to DVD (palm pictures I believe) is not that good.

It looks as though it was mastered from a shody VHS tape!

You can hardly see Countryman fight in the end since the contrast is horrible.

My favorite reggae film is Rockers.

Would love to see Babylon if it ever gets remastered and sold in the US!

Forget Shogun Assassin! See the real undubbed version/series entitled LONE WOLF AND CUB!

I too have seen Shogun Assassin when it came out in the States and was impressed (I was 6 yrs old). But when you see the films that it borrowed from, Lone Wolf 1 and 2 there's no comparison!

Might be sad here, but probably my favourite movie of all time is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. I can watch it over and over again for the atmosphere and music.

Other than that, I love the Alien Quadrilogy (especially the 2nd one). The Lord of the Rings films were very good too! The LOTR films make the Harry Potter one's seem really mediocre IMO.

More recently I've really enjoyed the Bourne trilogy

As for Reggae films I haven't seen one for ages, The Harder They Come had some great music but was a little cheesy, I enjoyed the one with Aswad (can't remember if that was Rockers or Babylon? It was about 25 years ago!).

You should check the extended versions of Lord Of the Rings. Especially if you've also read the books. There's an awful lot left out of the cinema versions and a little of it makes a welcome comeback in the extended versions.

Yes, great movies!!

But...... Whattabout Tom Bombadill!!?? Totally left out in the movies, but the coolest character in the books, or in the first book I mean.
Maybe Im a little grumpy, but I think Peter Jackson should have included Tom Bombaweed!! ;)

Indeed - I missed dear old Tom too!

I also think that they didn't make enough of the part of the book when the Gate of Gondor falls, this is followed by an amazing passage in the book where the witch king rides through the gate - the first enemy to do so, to come face to face for an instant with Gandalf...
'In rode the Lord of the Nazgul...'
The best single passage in the book and possibly the most powerful pieces of fiction writing I have ever seen!

I heard that Jackson left Tom out because he planned to do a film dedicated to Bombadill.

Sadly, Jacksons has fallen out with New Line over royalties, so he won't be involved in any future Tolkien stuff. Which is a great shame as he's proved himself without a doubt as the master of the genre.
