I agree again w/ ital kemar I&I won't drink more or less beer. Really no one will drink more beer because of this. And if they do I don't have a problem w/ beer I have a problem w/ the disease of addiction. I can only sight this as a chance for some one if they even ever hear this ad to catch the love and forward from there
REMEMBER children as it was written we have already won. Zion bound seen!
I'm happy the Congos will have more dunza for their families. really they deserve to be able to live off their gift.

"By the sweat of your brow, so shall ye eat bread"
They did the work, they should have been paid, properly.
However, I can't feel at all comfortable with such a very roots song being used to further sales of beer. Let's get real here, the beer companies do not spend money on advertising for nothing, they know it increases sales. And more beer sales will inevitably mean some more children crying, somewhere.
The problem is, if we were all REALLY honest with ourselves, we would have taken the money too. Especially if you feel that in the past you were cheated and you actually *need* the money.

And the message of the promo is ugly... really... But the *paradise* of promos is always ugly... I guess the Congos were aware of the double negative connotation for rastas...
Im a bit disappointed too. Not that I dont respect anymore, but what is strong with the rasta message is its true integrity, without the need of being radical. A real militant message that claim they can find a better life apart of the commercial society. Not really what is shown in this clip. Im not saying the Congos did the clip, of course, but they gave the right to use their song.
Maybe seeing that this apart society is not materializing in our times, they decided to go back to the global society and live an easier life, with more dunza. Dont know, but can understand; but it means to me its a bit giving up their rasta beliefs.
Guidance

Wont judge anyway, I dont know their actual situation, but its always sad to see such a strong and true message expressed in reggae turned by f*** commercials into a cheapy, phony, superficial thing made only for tourists...
But as the big commercials only try to devy things from their substance to sell their sh*t... It could have been predicted...
Hopefully I prefer other beers to Heineken...

I found the ad amusing and quite disturbing. Probably because it represents a true picture.
I would now hate to take my white body into such a bar in fear that things were being presented differently just for my 'tourist' eyes.
I'm sad because it probably means that I could never find the real vibe and would always be served the 'tourist' vibe.
As for the use of the song, I wonder who actually signed the licence to use it hear? One, or all, of the Congos themselves? Or has some music publisher somehow gained the rights to the song and has subsequently 'sold it out'?

I like that heineken ad. It´s pure fun. (It´s almost as fun as to read your comments, chaps).
Talking about reggae artists and ugly world of commercials... Do you know, that Don Carlos is vaporizers specialist? http://www.vapezilla.com/Vaporizers-Sup ... inger.html

Woah! Am I mistaken or is that Don Carlos thing just $550 dollars worth of fancy chillum?
The Bud Lite ad made me laugh, although the drink itself makes me puke...
