OFF CENTRE PRESSINGS

Is there any way to 'fix' off centre pressings?

My turntable lets me remove the pin in the middle, that way I can center the record before playing, works great :-)

For a precise centering, remove the cone adapter before playing - Most of the offcenter records are jamiacans big holes. While playing look streight to the front of the needle to see how much it swings. Put a reference close to the cartridge arm - may be your finger - then stop the turntable plate manually exactly in the point the arm is getting more off the center. move slightly the record to the center to compensate and let it spin again. Repeat this until you minimize the swinging and the needle stands almost still. Cant make it better!

No, for me I'm having most trouble with 33rpm LPs, which don't have JUKE BOX sized holes so this can't work. Sadly all three of my decks have fixed pins so I am searching ebay for a reasonable deck at a low price and with a removable pin!

I haven't been a collector of 45s 7s until very recently so only have maybe 10 or 20 and they seem OK.

There is still the ,well, 'brutal' but very common method to widen the centerhole on lps with a small sharp knife or scissors. If done carefully it gives you the chance to center the record the way described above.
