who amongst B.Marley, P.Tosh, B.Wailer....

greetings all.


got some bredrins who can't stand a track by either of this great Wailers being skipped when we're listening to reggae together.
we are ever divided on who is d WICKEDEST singer, song writter, performer, wailer, etc etc of the 3... though all are GREAT!

I took some while to get into Bunny Wailer. But I've got some very nice 12 inch cuts by him that have definitely turned me onto him much more lately.

Bob Marley's stuff is great. His live LPs still make the hair stand up on my neck. Spine tingling stuff.

Peter Tosh was an early reggae favourite of mine but I don't listen to him so much today. But Legalise It is a great one to spin when you need a bit of militant roots.

All three have great voices and can sing anything in reggae music from roots to rebel through lovers and rastaman chant - effortlessly.

The three together are perhaps the definition of rebel roots rock reggae. They are all militant reggae rebels and true reggae artists.

Hi there...interesting question.
For me they are all great of course, but when I look to the records I listen the most...it's the Bunny's ones . I 've got Black heart man and Roots man skanking. I really love the way he sing more than marley and tosh but just my opinion

legalise it... a hot tune, played in most of d reggae clubs when they become kinda cloudy....
Bunny's Black Heart Man - very hot it is, I'll use it as my ringtone tomorrow.... its 1:40am (GMT+3) here but I nuh sleep!

without question bunny is the best, wicked songwriter and very mellow voice

i like bunny but he has some bad records, and also it was discovered that he wasn't the true writer of dreamland and stole the song from another singer

peter is the best, very versatile artist,every album sounds different from the last, no repetition with his records!

bob is of course great also.

overall,it's amazing how much talent and influence could be held by only 3 men

I think Bob Marley was by far the most talented songwriter, but I like Bunny's voice better. Peter Tosh I've always found boring but I must admit I only listened to "Legalize It".
Anyway, this was one of the greatest Jamaican harmony groups ever!! The song writing and arrangements really stand out. Very much influence of soul music. Wailers + Lee Perry was a match made in heaven. This group can not be overrated!

BUNNY WAILER!!! all the way idrens! much more creative vocal melodies IMO than bob and certainly peter. all three are very gifted with lyric prowess, but bunny's voice is much better than the other two.
like above, i answer this by who's records do i listen to most. black heart man, protest, struggle, and all his work with roots radics on rootsman skanking and rock and groove are all crucial and heavyweight sets.

I think it depends on what albums you are considering. For example, I think Peter's "Equal Rights" is better than Bunny's "Rule Dancehall" or Bob's "Confrontation" LPs.
On a whole though, I definetely listen to "Blackheart Man" most and then "Protest" second most. So, I guess that puts me with everyone else as saying Bunny has the best voice.
However, I often wonder if Bob or Peter would have started to change their sound as much as Bunny has. Peter never made dancehall tunes like Bunny does, even thru the mid-80s. The new direction he has taken really doesn't allow his voice to shine. Because of this, I really don't like his work after Gumption.
