Jimmy Radway "Dub I"

Post by dubdoudou »

Hello everyone

I am looking for further details about this lp :

http://www.members.shaw.ca/dublp/dubi.html

Are the tracks the same as on the "Hug A Dub" lp, or the Roots Rockers "Fe Me Dub/Dubwise Shower" cd ?

Thanx a lot for feedback

Hey Leggo

Typically helpful answer as usual :D

dubdoudou, dont put yourself out to find these details on my behalf.

I am sure that if you dont have the answer then their probably isn`t anyone else of this forum who will.

Now guys prove me wrong and answer the question for both me and dubdoudou

The Dub I set is identical to Roots Rockers "Dubwise Shower" (vol 2). The first volume of Dubwise Shower is Ras Clatt Dub (another very good LP)

Only got the Dubwise Shower reissue of Dub I. Killer set IMO!

http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3566#rel3515

You'll find dub to Warning riddim (Desi Roots), Black Cindirela riddim (E Dunkley), Mother Liza riddim (L Smart), Slaving riddim (the cut used by Glen Brown, if memory serves) and other more obscures dub.

I've got the original Dub I on Micron, tracks are same as the last 10 tracks (different order I think) on Dubwise Shower. I have the sleeve & label artwork but can't attach images, I used the contact form here for an email address to send the images, but no reply, anyway, here are the original track listings.

Side 1

1. Black Rights
2. Cinderella
3. Micron Way
4. Hell & Sorrow
5. Awn Yah!

Side 2

1. Mother Liza
2. Black I Am
3. She's Mine
4. Wicked Have To Feel It
5. Back to Africa

It appears Jimmy Radway only made 1 dub album.

Since the initiation of this thread I have obtained "Dub I", "Hug A Dub" and "Dubwise Shower" and all 3 are one and the same album.

The tracks arew primarily from the "Keep the Pressure Down" various artists compilation.

Has anyone identified the original to "Wicked Have To Feel It"?

If you're still looking for it, it's "Slaving" from Lloyd Parks :

DJ Algoriddim made a mix quite useful with tracks using the same riddim, but it seems it has been deleted since. In case it comes back later :

There is also :

Personally, "Wicked have to feel it" is definitively my favourite version. The organ makes me crazy. Really.
