i also posted this in another tread but i think it more appiles here, it really boggles my mind that alcohol is legal and dare i say running rampant through the world leaving this hugh wake of destruction and misery in its path? People doing things that they wouldnt even think of doing if they were sober, the hundreds of thousands of people killed due to drinking and driving, i mean it seems pretty damn evident to me man, its all there right on paper, but yet still...but i mean what do i know, i smoke herb.
then to address jah glu about any bad side effects from the herb, i believe that it varies from person to person, i personaly have never ever had a bad experiance with ganja, i pretty much chief on the daily, and have never encountered any kind of severe nausea or anything of that nature, in fact it does the complete opposite for me, if i feel nausious or have a headache, the good ole collie bush comes to my aid, haha listen to the soul syndicate, they'll tell you ha.
but like i said it varies from person to person so i am not trying to discredit anyone here im just decribing my own experience.
and leggo, yeah mon, i know everyone likes to put tobacco in thier spliffs in the UK huh? Ive had a few friends head over there and come back doing that and i cant stand that dude, THAT makes me sick, even after one pull, i mean seeing as how i dont smoke cigs it would do that but still, i cant see puffing anything but the lambsbread, seen?

No way Jah Glu, if I'd drunk as much Alcohol as I'd smoked herb since I was 15 (I'm 44 now!), my liver would have exploded by now!Jah Glu wrote: I think that in a long term they are both equally bad but if you dont smoke that much, it isnt dangerous at all. I think that either herb should be legalized or alcohol should be criminalized.

I know by strict orthodoxy, Rastas are supposed to abstain from alcohol. However, with the rum and red stripe I think it's hard for many to follow thru on this. And, just like many soul singers, artists may be very vocal about their spiritual beliefs while not always following them to the letter.
I know that marijuana today can be many, many times more potent than what was around in the 70s. In effect, just taking a hit or two in the present is comparable to someone smoking a LOT back in those days.

you know man, i dont think that to be entirely true...i mean, i am speaking out of articles and other varies writings that ive read that say that to be a myth and the herb back in the 60s and 70s was just as strong as it is today. i believe to to be true becuase i mean, what would change? it all depends on how you grew and cured it, i think people that claim it to be less potent were just smoking some bunk tumble weed or something. but like i said i speak from things that ive read seeing as i was not even alive in the 60s and 70s let alone puffing haha.

Re: What do rasta's think about alcohol?
The strongest weed I have ever smoked came from Africa. Hand imported by a friend from Malawi. We literally tripped out on it. This was 1978.
The second strongest was in Holland. I hadn't smoked for six whole months and the stuff sent me into a bad trip. The first bad trip of my entire life and I'd lived a bit by then. That was 1996.
I have also been sick on herb - vomiting. But it was from a source I don't usually use and I think it might have been doctored. Herb with all kinds of rubbish sprayed or mixed in is rampant in the UK now. Additives include powdered glass, if you are lucky, and crystal meths if you aren't!
Alcohol in excess or for too long is the real killer and there can be no argument about that. But herb can have a negative effect, sometimes. Some people's minds can't take any kind of alteration in the long, or even short term.
Herb isn't for everyone.
As for mixing with tobacco, I don't do it and frankly don't understand it.

Research has shown that the average strength of samples busted by the Police that there is no increase from 'the old days'. There were some Greens and Hashes back then too that could send you into a whitey. Much of the skunk etc produced is from cloned plants, after 3 to 4 generations it begins to weaken. I think this effect counteracts any botanical engineering done by our Dutch friends._Easy_ wrote:you know man, i dont think that to be entirely true...i mean, i am speaking out of articles and other varies writings that ive read that say that to be a myth and the herb back in the 60s and 70s was just as strong as it is today. i believe to to be true becuase i mean, what would change? it all depends on how you grew and cured it, i think people that claim it to be less potent were just smoking some bunk tumble weed or something. but like i said i speak from things that ive read seeing as i was not even alive in the 60s and 70s let alone puffing haha.
If it is legal, then you can have it tested and people can get to know which one is right for them, a good coffee shop in Holland will carry a mix of regular and hi strength and will advise you on what is what.
Alcohol, of course, also comes in various strengths. If a novice drinker were to start messing around with Metaxa 7 star brandy, there would be some pretty unpleasant, and possibly even fatal, outcomes.
I'm not saying that there are no psychotic effects though - I totally agree that it is according to the individual - some I know have given up quickly as it makes them paranoid.
I think that constant exposure to top strength smoke is likely to have some negative effects, but nothing like the effect of similar exposure to top strength alcohol!
