Cracking bike. The road bike's not a patch on the Ten Kate Honda Supersport bike that I rode at Jerez a few years back!

thats righteous leggo! yeah mon i love em, but unfortunatly there are 1 too many drunk drivers on the road, let alone just the careless drivers out here in New Mexico. i sold it shortly after moving out here. but i think when i move and start making money again, ill be forced on to one

I do find that DJs who collect and use vinyl tend to be purist
who tend to look down upon non vinyl users.

I could not be bothered buying 7"s
when I could get a 7o min CD with up to 20 great tracks.

Collecting rare and original recordings is cool but Djing with vinyl is just un necessary.

The real difference for me is in the approach...

Buying original vinyls is like rummagging ina bazar... You may find a very obscure gem at the bottom of the pile... Something really uncommon that you'll make listen your brothers around...

And its no greed, when I go to a friend's home and listen to his one away obscure killers, Im just happy to be able to listen to that crucial sound. When the artist did release his 50 copies in the 70s in Jamaica, he could never have thought that the records he had in hands would one day be the pleasure of us here, because the chance that such an "inexistant" release finish in our hands, was about zero. But the original pressing has this difference that the link with the artist is in your hand. Of course, thats totally superfical, but it helps to dream, live ina "reggae mythology" that is real, if you follow me.

I would never select a recording of a friends obscure tune, even if we share easily CDR copies of them, but it'll remain his "signature". And that's the thing I love with vinyls in reggae. Everytime you go to a collector's home, youll find some stuff you would never had heard of. Its the magic of vinyls.

I like to share the music and record my stuff for others, even the very very rare stuff, that's not a problem of appropriating the sound. Only an excitant trip, digging in the impossibly vast space of reggae releases.

Nowadays, Im exchanging CDRs of vinyl recordings and buying vinyls. But for the crucial cuts, Ill always look for a vinyl release after I discover them on CDRs. Many time you can simply forget to find them, and that's the magic of CDRs, the rarity has basically no importance.

I started to collect reggae once more but this time on CDs, three years ago, was the fact that LOADS of the stuff I wanted just wasn't around on ANY CDs ANYWHERE and still isn't.

There's records in my play-out box that you just won't find on any legal CD. This is especially true of the 12 inch discos.

So I was forced into buying vinyl to get the tunes I wanted.

And once I had bought and listened to some vinyl again (after many years without)... well you all know what happened next...

No. Your collection is just more determined by fate and hardwork than what the latest reggae distributor is releasing. That is unless you're talking about collectible Cd's.
