Help with "Lee Scratch Perry" album
Hey bredrin
Ok so im reckoning time for a new album i`ve decided on some Scratch.I`ve seen two albums that look good i have not seen what songs are on them they are all dub tunes i think. "Dub Triptych" or "Dubstrumentals" which are the must haves of these two but also keep in mind that i already own: "A Serious Dub", "Essential Lee Perry The Ultimate Upsetter", Ape-Ology-Super Ape vs Return Of The Super Ape", "Lee Scratch Perry Arkology". Out of these two albums that i asked for your advice on do they contain most of the songs on the albums above that i own. Thanks in advance for any information on this question.
Onetime bredrin keep well,
Peace out!

The *Dub Tryptic* is essential; *Black Board Jungle Dub* and *Revolution Dub* are top notch.
But don't look too far past the albums on *Dubstrumentals* either. These albums tend to be overlooked by fans of the Black Ark stuff (IMO). But I really, like Scratch's early 70s material.
I am a huge fan of both *Musical Bones* and *Kung Fu Meets the Dragon* Especially *Musical Bones*-- an instrumental album featuring Vin Gordon on trombone.

You will always get overlap when you buy compilations.
Dubstumentals is later stuff
Dub-triptych is earlier stuff
Both are great !
Of the two I would say Dubstramentals will not have many tracks you already have.

I 100% agree with this post. A crucial CD.daCENSOREDone wrote:definitely dub triptych... it contains cloak & dagger + black board jungle dub + revolution dub... like the shampoo you know 3 in 1
But why not save a few more dollars and buy both? Or is that just the obsessive collector in me talking?

Sorry to say, but for me both are crucial:)
If I'm forced to buy one, it would be Dub-Triptych, but Dubstrumentals (selecta - if I'm not wrong this contains later stuff?), is also fine, especially Musical Bones...

Arkology and the 4 x CD Trojan box set are excellent overviews of Scratch's work.
I recently acquired Dubstumentals but found the later half of it a little boring, Kung Fu Meets the Dragon, however, is excellent.
