A different mix of "Rock and Come In"

Post by Selector J »

Greetings,

I heard a different mix than the Robin Hood version of Barrington Levy's "Rock and Come In" and it was an absolute scorcher!

The version replaced the horn lines with a high sounding organ, possibly a synth, but definitely no horns. It still sounded very much like the Roots Radics (even more so, in my opinion). On top of all that, it was an extended version.

I really liked the Robin Hood cut but now all I want to listen to is this other version. Does anyone know anything about this version?

Where it came from?

Where I could find it?

Why it was inexplicably left off the original album AND the reissue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I can't get the organ line out of my head...)

Rock and come in,

i have heard this version many times, before i picked up the robbin hood album i use to think that the version you are talking about was standard. i was dissapointed when i found out otherwise. isnt it more of a minor chord thing? if not than there is a 3rd version that is a scorcher

It very well may have this element, as well. I am not a musician so I could only make a guess about this point.

The definite identifying key is that the descending horn line in the album version was replaced by an organ/synth. There are no horns, at all.

Ites,

on the label it says 1976 although its obviously 80s imo - label is 'contact' & geovanni on the matrix, how long has he been etching? might give an idea of how old this press could or could not be

Is there anything else on the Matrix? Can you do a label scan for us? Is it a 12 inch cut or a 7?

It's a great version. I love the tempo.
