here is the thing... I just moved to Montreal, Canada, where I hardly find people who like reggae music, and even less reggae vinyls stores. If someone knows one, please tell me...

Re: good reggae shop in montreal?
my poor friend, I'v also experienced that 3 years ago when I came to Montreal for 9 months... there is almost nothing, except in the jamaican neighboorhoud but even there the shop I visited was very poor in roots music.
Still, you can confort yourself because some music shops in the center have some reggae, not a lot, but if you check all the vynil boxes you will find some good surprises . FOr example I found Freddie McKay's Creation or Prince Lincoln's True Experience.. There is also a big cd shop close to UQAM university where you can find some reggae, correct (but not big) selection.
A few local bands also (veryfew)
bless

Re: good reggae shop in montreal?
As a Montreal native, I've noticed that the vinyl scene has dwindled over the last 6-8 years. There were a lot of record shops in the 1990's and early 2000, but some great ones closed (Mike's records in CDN, Sketchy Wax, Noize on St-Laurence and many others) There are a few other shops still open now where you can find the occasional gem, but you have to be dilligent and go often. I used to go out digging a lot, but prices have increased in some stores and I usually prefer e-bay or shopping at ernie b's. I usually go once or twice a year to the shops, most of the time I leave disapointed, but that's the risk you take I suppose! Most of the shops are in the Plateau district, but you can find some in other areas. Hope this helps.

It has great selection of used record stores, all with reggae sections its a hit and miss type selection, where yes mainly on the plateau,,all within walking distance and subway stops. There is one specific store ,you will find it if you want to,caters to roots with 3 walls full of it.And the newly opened House Of Reggae Club http://www.houseofreggae.com/,and many small clubs that offer various reggae nights. And one of the best North American reggae Festivals every summer downtown. In my experience of travel Montreal is right on par with most cities of that size reggae wize.
