Re: Reggae Shop Berlin/Concerts Berlin
hey,
well i ve been living in berlin since October, but it is (i guess its a world wide phenomena) hard to find good roots partys. There are some weekly roots/dub partys but they are most of the time disappointing. You know when the dj starts nice, but goes bad (slackness stylee or nu-roots) after 20 minutes.
On monday you have a weekly thing in Lauschangriff (www.lauschangriff-berlin.de) which i enjoy from time to time. On Wednesday you have Dubwohnzimmer (www.raw-tempel.de) which can be good, guess you have to be lucky with the set up...
Sometimes also vintage night in Yaam (www.yaam.de)
Its really a pity that roots reggae and dub are so rare to find (in my experience: Belgium/Berlin...). Dancehall, ragga, socca is everywhere; but where is the roots, there is audience for it for sure!
If you look for dancehall etc, there is plenty...
and shops, i remember from last year there was a nice reggae shop, but its broke now. There are some nice shops with new and second hand lps i check from time to time, but i dont know the address by heart, i send you a pm later. (also media market sells reissues here for a good price)
As i only live here for since Oct, there is probably some missing information... If i hear form sth good while you are here, i send you a pm also...
Bless

Re: Reggae Shop Berlin/Concerts Berlin
Hi there!
I haven´t found a good roots& culture party either. When I started to enjoy the dance, the selectors play some ragga junk or anything else which is not roots.
To feel irie, I need one great tune after the other without any interruption:-)))
We used to have deeroy´s dubstore for a couple of years, but he shut down last summer cause of low public interest.
We used to have 2 shops in Kreuzberg one was called reggaematicthe other one was called greater jamaica. They also shut down.
One shop in Kreuzberg is still open called hard wax. Check hardwax.com. Mixed selection, some new + used reggae vinyl. When you reach the address you haffi check them in the 2nd back yard.
Good luck, really would like to offer some more...

Hey I-Lion,
you're from X-berg? Are you a dj?
Maybe some initiative needed for a good roots reggae party, no crap!
Its what you say, when you start to enjoy the dj changes the mood...
didnt checked the hard wax store yet, go there first thing in the morning...
bless

And I don´t know if there is any major artist performing here during your stay.
Berlin seems to have some bad vibe to reggae. Remember Joseph Hill died here.

It's a pity...indeed.
It's hard to find good roots partys in berlin. My sound is now going to out to play after yeasr of stagnation!
check out "Roots Rakete" at FB and add! We are doing "open-airs" ina soundsystem style. strictly vinyl: roots reggae dub and early dancehall! and in fall 2011 we will start in clubs!
Peace! and shout out to all dancers and entertainers!
