I do agree with you in that if you dont practice the rastafarian faith, chanting ras-tafari would not mean a whole lot to you, but people say it in the whole feel, or in support, of the show or gig your at, but i dont think that everyone really understands what they are saying.
but like i said i think the solo term rasta can be used pretty universally, just like when i call a chick 'dude' im not actually calling her a guy, its just the term im using.
