So it must have only been on dubplate.
Ras Midas & Tribesman need to release the tune with the dub, which would not be a repress cos there was never a full length dub,so that the artist can get some pay, instead of the 12" at the moment going for £100 GBP plus, where the artist and producer gets nothing. If they did would that put the price of the 12" thats around down or up? They would have to get the new release cos its got a dub, then that tune would be worth something in 10 years time.
The vocal and toasting need to be the same with no remixing and stick the dub on the other side and will they want the old record or new one?
Peace

...and then people would be selling it on eBay for a profit over the $15 or so dollars they paid for it....and you would be complainging about the producer/artists getting no money again. I'm afraid you're getting caught in a loop, son.stepping razor wrote: They would have to get the new release cos its got a dub, then that tune would be worth something in 10 years time.
What about the people that bought albums a long time ago that are now worth nothing compared to their purchase price? Should the artists/producers pay them money?
Silly argument.
P.S. I like that Ras Midas 12 - it dub out a bit at the end of the 12, but you're right it's not enough.

Re: Any dub to Ras Midas-Good Old Days 12" tribesman..
my point is whats going to go for more money in 10 years the recent release if its gonna happen or the one some 25 odd years ago.
The great skill of knowing in 2008 of which tunes made in 2008 are gonna be worth something in 10 years time, are the tunes that stand the test of time, but that only happens when you get it for the music and not what its going to be worth, it just happens that my taste of roots music seems to be in demand, where as when i bought it when it came out i bought it cos it was a good tune £1.35p GBP for a 7 inch single.
So a lot of people are getting fooled of what a tune should go for.
Also theres another Sharon Little-Dont mash up creation-12" one love going on ebay, its turning up once a week now, but the price is still going up, the price should be going down the more copies there are, but that dont seem to be the case,If a tune turns up once every 5 years then i can understand prices.
In the end its about good music and not silly prices of what people are prepaired to pay cos a lot of the time its well over priced.Oh yer shaka played it stick another £50 GBP on it just cos its got a shaka tag, that aint right star.
Its like Elton Johns umbrella is up for sale on ebay with 7 days to go and its already up to £335 GBP just cos its Elton John`s fans, i should imagine its gonna end up close to £1000 GBP by the time the bidding finished.
peace

Yeah, certain genre's and tunes get trendy and there seems to be a feeding frenzy-type of atmosphere for a while - Northern the greatest example of this, but it'll subside and people realize the tunes are out there. In our just-in-time economy people aren't taught to wait and I believe this is a phenomena of that.
That said, i walked in to a store the just on Saturday and that Sharon Little 12 was sitting on the desk. $8 and I'm out.

Was it in mint condition or a mashed up copy? I like the tune but not as to pay a lot for. If it turned up every 5 years,it should be going for £500 GBP cos every week it turns up and goes for £110-£150 GBP.Its funny cos it will get reissued soon.Thats nothing to what ska and northen soul goes for.

Well you got a bargin then.
Its the good old fashion leg work and digging in shops where you can find bargins, and since it was a uk tune they go over the top for it in the uk.So in any other country it turns up in it will be cheaper.Thats what i like to hear bargins from digging the old fashion way of finding tunes.

I do the leg work, believe me - buying collections and what not, but I still hit the stores a couple times a week. Plus dudes will hold stuff for me knowing I'm into a certain type of tune. I acutally prefer the legwork to buying online, it's kind a like a lottery winner versus someone who worked for a million. They appreciate it more.
