I don't know much about new samplers, but I own an ASR-10 Sampling keyboard by Ensoniq. Extremely versatile in terms of editing features and sound effects. Features over 50 effects with many variations and all customizable. You can change filters, envelopes with ease on this beast. What do you need the sampler for by the way?

Re: Samplers..
Im thinking of sortng out a load of samples from movies and all sorts to introduce into dj sets, also with the band and with some production stuff, dub mixes, etc.
I dont need a keyboard really so im just looking for the sampling features, doesnt need to be too over complex.
What (did) do you guys use the sampler for?

I use my keyboard for making music mostly. It's also available as a rack, so you don't have keys.

Sounds like you need something like the Roland sp 404,

Bullit,
I had the SP202 by Boss/Roland. It was decent, but the mediacard for storing samples is out of production. The sp303 I've seen in action in DJ sets and its pretty good. So the 404 may be the best bet, if you are looking to spice up your selections! I have yet to come across a Roland product that was sheer rubbish.

I don't know squat about this sort of thing but when I aksed MightyZ what to use for adding sampled FX into my show he suggested the Korg ES1. No keyboard and a media card to store or download FX onto.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
