Alton Ellis-Continuation

Post by Sir Marvin »

I've never heard this album. Is it worth of picking? And what about his another not-so-much-praised album Love To Share?

I personally love "Continuation". Wicked Roots Radics riddims and in my humble opinion you can´t go wrong with anything by Alton. The guy can sing the phone book. "Love To Share" is a smooth Soul record with some jazzy piano by Jackie Mittoo. Don´t expect any Reggae, it´s all Soul grooves, mostly slow ballads with Alton in fine voice!

I love "Continuation"! Wicked Roots Radics riddims with Alton singing beautifully as usual. Good mixture of concious songs and Lover´s as well. You can´t go wrong with Alton´s voice.... the guy can sing the phone book in my humble opinion. "Love To Share" is a smooth Soul record. Don´t expect any Reggae, it´s all Soul with nice vocals from Alton and jazzy piano from Jackie Mittoo. If you dig sweet sounding slow soul ballads, this one´s for you. Good to cuddle up with your woman to.
