brutal

What is the general consensus regarding the black uhuru album "brutal"? I have almost bought it many times. I am hesitant because michael rose, sly, and robbie aren't on it, and it is from the mid 80s. I am hesitant to buy anything made after 1983. The album also isn't in the roots archives. Does that mean it isn't roots? Thanks everyone.

Roots is a wide term... I would place it in the "international reggae" bag like Spear, Marley, Third World, that kinda thing

Junior Reid on lead vocals, not a bad album but not very interesting either

Can't stand those rock guitar lines...

Thanks Ites. I'm only looking for the classic roots. doesn't sound like brutal falls into this category.

I'm quite fond of their Pain On The Poor Man Brain single on Junior Reid's JR label, that's good Reid-Uhuru

suffers from that 80's wall of sound rock-pop production. Jnr & Uhuru were great live though...
