I haven't been to very many lately, but of course the Highness Sound System out of Nottingham, England are on my list. Great roots and early dancehall on a brilliant sound system rig. I spend 25% of the nights there looking at the hi-fi hardware!

Jah Shaka in the early 901s at the Arches in Vauxhall.south London. And at the Holloway Rocket before they built the extra floor. When it had a very high roof.I was quite late going to Shaka dances. 1989.
Jah Shaka also had some great dances at the Boston Arms in Tufnell Park NW/N London borders.
The Sound Systems at the Notting Hill Carnival before they put in "turn down sound at 7pm" when the sounds would play from the saturday till the tuesday morning.I cant remember the names of the sounds, but they were holding the front line (All Saints Road) all night and all day.Thats why its called all saints road.
Also where i grew up in the 70`s there would be some waste ground, big enough to be a block party, or some old railway land not used and they would set up the speaker stacks in the summer and would have good reggae music playing all day,(and if it was a really hot night), most of the night.
Peace

quite enjoyed jah tubbys, also from london channel 1, both of which i've seen lately. the best nite i can remember has to be brigadeer jerry and kenny knots with downbeat the ruler from new york, playing on the firehouse skanks system for their 10th anniversary. superb. million lyrics, and top selections too.

Gold Cup Final-'80 - Acton town hall. Shaka, Coxsone, and Soferno B. Fatman also due to play but hall so rammed when he arrived he was unable to string up. shaka dub plate selection mash up the place + in the peoples eyes /ears win cup with Gussie mixes of Mr. Bossman(cultural roots). Judges(Rodigan, Count Shelley, Steve barnard /maybe Tony Williams - memory fails now) give cup to Coxsone, causing near riot. Never likely to witness them kinda session again. No sound ever create the kind of pressure Shaka used to generate back then -IMHO.

saw shaka play early 90's in a tennis court in st pauls til morning. great acoustics, great selection great vibes. also in a warehouse off kingsland road where the electrics were hanging from the ceiling in the year that DEB passed away. again, played till morning - it was just after the house fire so he played some unusual selections. Remember jumping up to dub judah 'babylon is a trap'....
