Prices of used records on Ernie B's

Post by ras andejo »

To one and all reggae lovers all over the world,

I see a lot of nice and collectable records on the Ernie B's website. What annoyes me a little are the prices.

Prices vary from 129 US dollar to 199 US dollar....

We need to pay 1000 dollar for 5-8 lp's.....in my opinion this is too much.

What do you think of this? Please send your reactions.

Bless, Ras Andejo

some are or were well priced.. many of the overpriced ones you can get on ebay for a fraction of the price (fraction being 1/10th in many cases)

best to be patient, search other places & you won't have to pay 1000 usd for 5-8 records.. thats my advice/opinion of course!..

Agreed, Ernie has some great records, but they are a bit pricey... but he has them, so if you really want that one lp, you know where to get it.

E-bay is a great alternative.. like mashdown said, you can get some great deals, just have to be patient and keep your eyes and ears open. Go to local shops, you never know what you might find!

Some yrs ago I checked around for a Cultural Roots 12" called "Whole Heap A Daughter". Ernie had it in stock for 120 bucks; I found it on ebay a couple of months later for aorund 7 or 8 pounds in blue vinyl.

It seems to be a fast and nervous market. One week a rare gem sells for 50 pounds, the other week the same record doesn´t get a bid.
At the moment, bidders don´t spend that much exept on a current auction of Steve Barrow´s private collection.

I decided to save a bit on vinyl and to pimp my vespa instead (yunno, spring´s coming...)

Play on!

One day I-Lion ride to Lincolnshire and join the huge
parades of scooter-bwoys on the seafront of Skegness during the summer scooter rallies.

Then maybe come to Lincoln and visit Leggo Towers and I'll show you the wonderful Vespa posters I was given by Piaggio.

I am also trying very hard to restrain my vinyl buying as I think cheaper vinyl and many bargains are set to come as the world buckles under the disastrous results of the banker's and money-men's greediness.
