Since everyone keeps calling each other out on this forum. I have a beef with Matthew......
First, he traded me my Willie Williams for his Sugar Minott which led to me buying 3 more dancehall LPs by Sugar. I only collected Sugar's roots albums before that and it cost me $35 to get the dancehall stuff.
So far no big deal. But, then things took a turn for the worse. He recommended Waterhouse Revisited 1 and 2 on a thread I started. They were both under $2 on Amazon but with shipping cost me about $9. The discs were so good and since he had me hooked on all this music like crack.....I bought the Don Mais "Roots Tradition" CD he recommended a few weeks ago. At this rate none of my kids are going to college. My wife sees me less and less and complains I keep disappearing and playing loud music. My kids can't sleep. Basically, my life is gone. Thanks, Matthew.

Hey Jason,
What are the three Sugar albums. This happens to me everytime I see a new thread. Always new doors unlocked. Want list grows and grows! Bank account shrinks! Our wives could get together and complain!
Music is the healing of nations!

Re: Matthew
@ ras gaks- too true. Now I'm hooked again.
@gee-I bought: Sugar/ Frankie Paul- Showdown
Sugar-Ghetto Pickney
Uptempo Collection vol 2 (which has a lot of his dancehall productions from the Black Roots era)
I'd only fully recommend Showdown out of the three. Each has some good tracks though. Ghetto Pickney s all over the place and covers too many eras and varies in quality from track to track. There are some gems though.
Gee, have your wife e-mail mine and they can be the forerunners of a new kind of support group, "Reggae Rehab".
Question: I have Sugar's Studio One LPs, Black Roots, Ghetto-ology, African Woman, Herbsman Hustling, Slice of the Cake, Sugar & Spice, Rare Gems, and Collector's Collection. Is it worth it to get "With Lots of Extra" LP as well? Is it on a par with the above? See, I really am taking it too far. Totally hooked.

Re: Matthew
P.S. I started this thread as a bit of a joke about how serious (and uptight) this site has become lately. No offense meant. However, I really do appreciate all the trades I've done with people on this site. I've enjoyed being exposed to new music and finding people who have similar tastes. At my work and with most of my friends, most everyone thinks reggae=Marley if they know what it is at all. I'm no ERT (European Reggae Tycoon) but have loved and enjoyed reggae for about 18 years. It's great to talk to others who share an interest and love for this incredible music.
In other words, THANKS.

Hey Jason,
I also have the following Sugar titles and recommend all of them: Black Roots, Slice of the Cake, Sugar & Spice, and Ghetto-Ology + Dub
My favorite out of all of them is Slice of the Cake
I would also try to find buy off the bar & dancehall showcase vol 2 if you don't have them.

Re: Matthew
Sugar Minott, Echo Minott, Frankie Paul, Frankie Jones, Michael Palmer, Robert Ffrench, Coco Tea, Winston Hussey, Pad Anthony, Partick Andy, Bobby Melody, Singie Singie, Sammy Dread, Anthony Johnson, little John, Johnny Osbourne, Barry Brown, Tony Tuff, Al Campbell, Carlton Livingston.
These singers have some fantastic dancehall albums that are definately worth searching.
The 8 volumes of "Showdown" are great too.
Spend your money and enjoy the music, turn it up loud when the wife moans about the amount you spend and you can drown out the nagging

Hahhaaa...right on Jason !
I've been out of town since Thursday, so I'm just getting to see this thread.
Sorry about the 'trouble' I started.
I take only partial blame however as the original producers /artisits will need to be contacted directly for any claim of loss of children's tuition funds, time away from wife, etc....
Music wise :
Humbled that you picked up those releases I suggested and are enjoying them. Those comps 'ARE' really, really hard to beat.
Some of my top favorites and yours now for sure.
Thanks to everyone that commented, for the laughs and the welcome back to the board after my vacation.
See you guys around the Archive.
