favorite book on dub/reggae/jamaican music?

Favorite book is a tough call. I've got most of the books that have been mentioned in this thread, and a lot of them are great in different ways.

I wanted to give another recommendation, though, for Michael Veal's "Dub — Soundscapes & Shattered Songs". It's true that it can be rreeeallly dry reading in parts (and I skipped over a lot of the bits about chord progressions and musical notation - over my head), but when he writes about the sounds, the mixing styles, the transformation of a song into a good dub version, it's fantastic.

Despite my worries about an ivy-league music professor writing a dry thesis, that book re-energized my appreciation for dub.
