I read the question as later reggae not digital archives and i think good reggae is good reggae.
There is not much of it around but there are a few bits that archive users may be impressed with if they gave it a chance.

Re: Should more later reggae be added to the RA listing
Guys,
I started this thread as I was curious about music that was recorded later than 1986 and wanted to know if there was a place here for music from later in the 80`s.
I know its called Roots Archives and as many of you state, want it to remain pure to roots music.
But take a closer look around at the albums and you will find that there is already an abundance of digital reggae already listed.
My proposal was based around hearing a Coco Tea "Come Again". I thought it was a brilliant album from 1987 and it is one that is not listed here.
I dont want the site to change its approach but I think albums such as the one I mention deserves a place here too. Especially when you have albums listed that are even more digital in a strictly "Sleng Teng" sound.

We won't add any albums past 86 (except a few exceptions here and there) in roots archives. As it has been mentioned earlier we are supposed to be a roots reggae archives and i already feel that most of the 85-86 output presented here shouldn't be listed.

Seb,
Fair comment, perhaps then to lessen the confusion, evertyhing recorded later than 1985 and anything digital should be removed from the archives.
But them even within what we all consider the classic period of the music, you have albums here that are not even reggae.
For example
[cover=1893,2237]

not everything but everything which is non-roots should be removed for sure.Rootsman wrote:Seb,

For singles, I think Seb answered few months ago that it would be too much complicated.

Re: Should more later reggae be added to the RA listing
But reading into this thread, my interpretation of peoples opinion is that anything digital in sound or recorded later than 1985 is deemed as not pure roots.
Well looking at how this site is being promoted as a "ROOTS ARCHIVE" and taking that stand point that would make all those (digital or later than 85)albums non relevant to the site and should therefore not be here by definition.
But then are albums of explicit lyrical contents roots ?
Take that view and you could argue that General Echo 12" of pleasure" album should be removed along with many other albums with similar explicit lyrical content. After all it isnt roots.
How about removing all the albums with a lovers content, after all thats not roots either.
I personally feel their is room for this music, after all, its Jamaican, Its reggae and alot of it sings roots and culture (albeit of a later 80`s period)

Personally I would love if there was a Digital-Archives since there are several good albums from this period I really rate.
It would have been nice if the roots archives posse did this as a separate site though. But perhaps a bit complicated.
