I've been thinking about setting up a riddim section on my mix tape site at www.leggorockers.com/downloads
This would be an area where a member would name a riddim and then upload a short clip of music to ID that riddim.
Then other members could add other tune clips on the same riddim and also any alternative names used for the riddim.
There would also be the opportunity to discuss the riddim and ask questions, give facts and sort out when the riddim appeared and who originated it, etc etc etc
Are there enough people out there who want this and would contribute to it if I set it up?

Yeah, ras gaks!
That's just the sort of discussion I'd like to see on my proposed extension to leggorockers.com
I'm really crap with riddims but would like to learn. I'd like to get to the stage where all my 12 inch 45s are sorted by RIDDIM, rather than by label as they are now.
I know there are other very good riddim sites so maybe this isn't going to work.
I'll set it up and see if it gets used.

Please go to:
www.leggorockers.com/downloads and enter the 'Riddims' directory to use this service.

I'm confused about the need to establish the pre-1985 designation.
If I want to know what rhythm Beres Hammond's "Full Attention" is on, is that ok? ...Since "Stars" came out pre-1985?
Just how does this pre-1985 rule work?

The pre- 1985 thing is an attempt by me to NOT get involved in the modern day riddim business.
But feel free to bend the rules a little when it suits.
